CEDAR SoCal Scholars Program

When the CEDAR Foundation established its roots in the United States, it launched the CEDAR SoCal Scholars Program to empower dedicated, first-generation students who have the drive to succeed but lack the financial means to do so.

Through multi-year, need- and merit-based scholarships, CEDAR helps talented young people overcome financial barriers to higher education. But our commitment goes beyond funding: each scholar receives personalized mentorship and guidance from CEDAR’s dedicated team, ensuring they not only attend college, but thrive there.

Each year, nearly 100 CEDAR Scholars are pursuing degrees at colleges and universities across the nation—turning opportunity into achievement, and achievement into lasting community impact.

What is the CEDAR SoCal Scholarship Program?

The CEDAR SoCal Scholars Program offers a four-year undergraduate “last dollar” scholarship combined with ongoing mentorship and support. As a last dollar award, it bridges the gap between a student’s total cost of attendance and the financial aid they already receive — ensuring that funding shortfalls never stand in the way of a college education.

Each scholar may receive a laptop computer, tuition assistance, textbooks and school supplies, and help with clothing, housing or transportation based on individual needs.

Beyond financial aid, CEDAR provides consistent, personal support. Scholars stay in monthly contact with program directors who help them navigate academic and personal challenges throughout college. Students also participate in annual CEDAR events that foster community, encouragement, and a lasting sense of belonging.

Who are the CEDAR SoCal Scholars?

CEDAR SoCal Scholars are selected for their determination, character, and unwavering commitment to earning a college degree. Each scholar demonstrates the focus, resilience, and work ethic needed to overcome obstacles and succeed in higher education. Many are the first in their families to attend college, and all share a deep belief in the power of education to transform their futures.

Scholars must have earned a minimum 3.5 GPA in high school and be legal U.S. citizens or permanent residents. They represent the next generation of leaders who combine academic excellence with perseverance, integrity, and the desire to give back to their communities.
